I updated the Realtek driver to version 6. The only way to close it, was to kill the process in the task manager. When I opened the Realtek HD Audio Manager (DTS Audio Control) – shown in the image below - to make some changes, I noticed that when I was closing the app, by pressing the “x” in the upper right corner, the app was NOT closing, but instead it was minimizing in the system tray! I also deleted all Realtek audio drivers from the DriverStore.Īfter rebooting, Windows 10 installed the default Microsoft Audio Driver and a few moments later, without any intervention by me, it installed the “recommended/best” driver for my audio chipset (version 6., which by the way is the “best” version for my PC according to hp too). Due to quite long delays in startup, attributable to the audio service, I decided to completely uninstall the Realtek audio software from my hp laptop.
